Data and detection policy.
How footage and detection data from IRIS and Arges Auto-Track are owned, stored and governed.
Last updated: 5 October 2026
What this covers
This policy covers camera footage and detection data, including licence plate reads and person or vehicle detections, from cameras integrated by Monerus in products such as IRIS and Arges Auto-Track.
Agencies own their data
Footage and detection data belong to the agency that operates the equipment. Monerus does not sell or share agency data or use it for its own purposes.
Where data is stored
IRIS is a hardware integration. The cameras connect to the agency's selected camera platform. Recording, storage, retention, access controls and evidence handling are set within that platform and by the agency's own policies. Monerus does not provide a separate software platform for recording or storing footage.
Plate and person detection
Licence plate recognition and object detection are functions of the selected camera platform. What can be detected depends on the cameras chosen, their positions and the functions enabled. Agencies are responsible for using these features in line with their policies and applicable law, including state laws on automated licence plate readers.
Support access
If an agency asks for technical support, any access to its systems is arranged with the agency and limited to what the support task needs.
Recommendations for agencies
We encourage agencies to publish their own policies on camera use and on the retention and sharing of plate data.
